3 WAYS TO REBEL AGAINST OUR SMARTPHONE OVERLORDS
On Sunday, my phone died, and I found myself virtually twitching without my phone. I’ve gotten a lot more addicted in the last few months.
So I resolved to rebel!!!!!!
Here's what's helped me so far:
- Turned my smartphone into a landline. Imagine being an alcoholic and carrying a bottle of rum everywhere. First step would be to stop carrying around the bottle of rum lol. I didn’t need to buy a landline. I just dock my smartphone when you get home. Then I use it just when I have a real need.
- Meditated regularly. Fix the man, not the machine. I re-started meditating regularly again and it’s helped me choose silence instead of the phone more.
- Blocked apps and manage app limits with Opal. It’s so good! My brother’s been using it for months but I totally ignored his rec. I’ve been using it now this week and it’s killer for focusing during the workday. Their users save 1.23 hours daily.
I also logged off iMessage on my work laptop, turned off notifications for group chats, and muted just about everyone that isn’t immediate family or a romantic interest (lol)
Join the rebellion!
Also, I’m writing this in a bar. Isn’t that so cool! You don’t have to go to a bar to do bar things. You can also read or journal or write a blog post! And drink nonalcoholic beer.
