be interested in people

i don't think i or most people have done a good job of operationalizing "everyone is interesting".

i have a friend that's so good at asking questions and is also just so interested in people that i learn a lot more about my friends when she's present.

i also realized a couple years ago that the most i learned about my parents was in sixth grade when i had to interview them for an auto biography project. i never asked them about their past and they have so much to share.

i really want to push myself to be more curious about people. to ask another question, to really try to understand.

more generally i want to cultivate a curious mind that can find something interesting in anything.

that's the antidote to boredom and meaninglessness. plain old curiosity.
