  • i'm grateful to the memoir Crying in H Mart for sparking a lot of productive thoughts about my family and their importance in my life.
  • the author lost her mother at 25. i'm 25. my mom is well, but it just gets you thinking.
  • i can relate to the author's childhood. she had an immigrant mother who expressed her love in ways that were not easy for her child to understand, especially food. i can relate to that.
  • the book is good, but so heavy. i keep having to put it down. but i'm grateful to have the opportunity to "live" the author's experience through her words.
  • one action item for me is to learn my mother's recipes. i've mentally picked 3 of them and i want her to teach me them. it'll be a good mother-son bonding experience too.
