We get hangovers from alcohol when we binge drink.
We get hangovers from productivity when we binge work.
Put another way: when we sprint, rather than marathon at a sustainable pace, we experience a dip in productivity and loss in motivation.
I've anecdotally observed these productivity hangovers in my own life, whether after sprinting for a deadline at work, or after cramming for midterms in school. A tell-tale sign is when I start fantasizing about vacation/the weekend/FIRE and search for articles about PM work-life balance 😂
Productivity is not a sprint, it's a marathon. By taking care of ourselves and pacing out our work, we can avoid productivity hangovers and achieve our goals without burning out 💪
